That’s not the only reason this phone deserves your attention. It starts with the design language. This is a good looking device — one that will make heads turn — with a gradient colour pattern inspired by the Aurora lights. The Phantom 9 is Tecno’s flagship and key to this global smartphone brand’s success in India.

Bezels are clearly a thing of the past, the Phantom 9 features an immersive display that is geared for Netflix marathons. It sports a 6.4-inch AMOLED display (1080 x 2340 pixels) with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a water drop-style notch. The display is vibrant even under harsh light. A triple rear shooter is another feature we’ve seen percolate to phones under Rs 20,000. This triple camera combines a 16MP primary lens that teams up with a 2MP depth sensing lens and an 8MP wide-angle lens that allows you to shoot ultra-wide images. It’s quite versatile for a device at this price point. Tecno adds an interesting dual flashlight for those lowlight pictures. The 32MP selfie cam gets a boost from the device’s AI capabilities.

In terms of hardware, the Phantom 9 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 processor that teams up with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Internal storage. There’s room for a Micro SD card in case you want to expand the storage. Tecno opts to layer this device with its custom UI 0 HiOS 5.0, that’s built on Android 9.0 Pie. There are some useful touches, but it’s something that pure play Android fans might not fancy. The Phantom 9 is a capable device, one that has some interesting features (including the in-display fingerprint sensor) for its price point (Rs 14,999).

Lenovo Smart Band Cardio 2 (HX06H): if you’re still undecided about a wearable, Lenovo’s aggressively priced fitness tracker makes a strong case. It incorporates a heart-rate monitor and you can plunge into the pool with it (it boasts of a 5ATM waterproof level). The Cardio 2 smart band sports a bezel-less, 0.87-inch OLED display, that provides information on a variety of physical activities from running to cycling, while allowing you to check text messages and voice call notifications directly from connected iOS or Android devices. It also offers scientific sleep monitoring information, with a battery that lasts about 20 days on a single charge. (Rs 1,499)

Coolpad Cool 3 Plus: this feature-packed budget phone comes in two bold colour options — ocean blue and cherry black. At its heart is an MT6761 Helio A22, Quad Core processor (2.0 GHz Clock Speed) that is coupled with 3GB of RAM. There are two hardware variants — 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB. The other highlight is a 5.7-inch dewdrop display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The hardware spec sheet includes a 13MP rear cam, an 8MP selfie shooter and a 3000 mAh battery. (From Rs 5,999/- onwards)
