App listing info on music, dance and drama launched
City-based chartered accountant K Kalyanasundaram, along with Tandem Consulting Private Limited, has launched an app that will have all the information about live events in the city.
Chennai
Music of Madras app will be a complete repository of all live music, dance and drama events in the city, throughout the year. The app was launched by singer OS Arun on Friday.
The app will allow users to search forthcoming performances by artiste’s name, event type (vocal, harikatha, bhajan, instrumental, Carnatic etc), organisers and also by venue. It will also allow users to bookmark upcoming events.
“We wanted to release the app during the Margazhi music season last year but by the time we completed it, the season was already over. We went back to the storyboard to see the changes that we could incorporate.
Chennai is a culturally rich city. The city plays host to a variety of artistes, ranging from traditional classical art forms, to the contemporary and modern styles. Several live events are held in the city throughout the year. Sadly, many of these programmes have limited attendance as many organisers find it difficult to reach their target audience. We plan to bridge the gap,” says 52-yearold Kalyanasundaram, who is managing this project, apart from his full-time job.
The app is being during the December season and has the listings of all the sabhas as well.
“Apart from this, we are in touch with various event organisers, musical troupes and theatre groups, for making our listings more elaborate.”
Initially, the app will cover performances by artistes at venues in Chennai. In due course, the app will expand its services to include the list of organisers and venues in other cities and towns as well.
