Web app to verify relief work
A city-based start-up has created restorechennai.in, a web app to help volunteers get verified, location based information, to improve relief work

When Sampath Jagannathan, his brother Prasanna and brother-in-law Murali Satagopan were giving out relief materials in inundated areas of Madipakkam, they were hampered by false information and uneven distribution of aid. The trio behind a start-up called Brigge, decided to create a web app to streamline relief operations. “Since we are on the ground, we understood the problems faced by other volunteers. So, we created restorechennai.in, a location based app. People can access each area, key in the specified radius to find out what are the requirements/ relief materials available. We are personally verifying all the requirements to ensure credibility. People can even chat on a post. Once a requirement is met, we remove those posts,” explains Sampath, adding that this web app can be accessed through mobile devices.
Sampath says that this app will also help in rehabilitation efforts. “While relief operations are still being conducted in some parts, the focus has largely shifted to rehabilitation. I think this app will help people streamline the efforts,” he says.
