EPS staged hunger strike drama to cover up party problems: Ma Su

CHENNAI: State Health Minister Ma Subramanian on Wednesday said that the hunger strike drama staged by Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami was a cover up to hide the problems in his party (AIADMK).

Talking to mediapersons after the Assembly session, Subramanian said that he staged a drama in the Assembly yesterday (Tuesday) fearing that he would be exposed.

Elaborating on the findings of the Justice Arumughaswamy and Justice Aruna Jagadeesan Commissions of Inquiry, the minister took exception to EPS-led AIADMK’s abstention from the House during the adoption of resolution on Hindi imposition and said that they (AIADMK) know that no permission could be obtained for agitation when the Assembly is in session.

Despite knowing that they have staged a hunger strike drama to cause law and order problem, Subramanian said that he could list many instances of law and order breakdown during EPS regime, including series of murders in Kodanadu episode, traders murder in Sathankulam and Thoothukudi shooting.

“He claims that law and order has deteriorated in the State. He makes such statements to cover up the crisis he is in and the problems in his party,” Subramanian added.
