TIRUCHY: Uniforms, bags and textbooks would be distributed to students on time from June in the next academic year, said School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi in Thanjavur on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, he said the relationship between the Dravidian movement and Tamil is like twins. The Tamil language is the driving force of the Dravidian model government and the DMK proved that Tamil would unite the people. Now, the greatness of the language has been proved through research. The researchers claim that there are around 22 crore people, who speak Dravidian languages like Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam in India and Tamil is the mother of all these languages, which has been in use for over 4,500 years.
Chief Minister MK Stalin has been initiating steps for establishing Tamil Chairs at five universities in different South Asian countries. “And it is necessary for the students to get to know about the Tamil language and its grandeur and propagate it to their friends and relatives,” the Minister appealed.
Meanwhile, the Minister assured the completion of distribution of free uniforms to students by November and the school bags by December. “From next academic year, students will get their uniforms, school bags and text books soon after the reopening of schools”, he assured.
