On Monday, when the students returned to the college after a week’s holiday, they found that there was no power supply and were not able to sit in the classes.

TIRUCHY: Power supply to Bharathidasan Constituent Arts and Science College, Nannilam, Tiruvarur district, was suspended as the institution failed to pay consumption charges for the past few months and a holiday was declared for the evening shift from Monday.
Sources said that the Bharathidasan Constituent Arts and Science College has been functioning for the past seven years and around 2,300 students were on the rolls in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The college reportedly has not paid the electricity bills for the past 17 months. Despite repeated reminders from the Tangedco, the college administration had failed to pay the bill. So, the Tangedco officials disconnected power supply to the institution on Monday.
On Monday, when the students returned to the college after a week’s holiday, they found that there was no power supply and were not able to sit in the classes. Subsequently, they came out and staged a protest on the college premises demanding power supply.
Meanwhile, the college administration had re-arranged class schedules. As per the new arrangement, only the morning shift was held and the second shift students were declared holiday. Attempts to contact the college administration for its response went futile.
