Fasting Rajiv convict Murugan given glucose in Vellore jail hospital
Murugan, who is in the Vellore prison for 30 years following the assassination of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi is currently on a hunger fast demanding that the case against him for abusing a jail staffer be completed expeditiously.
VELLORE: Rajiv Gandhi assassination convict Murugan alias Sriharan was given glucose in the Vellore Central Jail Hospital due to his body’s weakness followed continued fasting on Tuesday. Murugan, who is in the Vellore prison for 30 years following the assassination of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi is currently on a hunger fast demanding that the case against him for abusing a jail staffer be completed expeditiously. His other demands include provision of parole with his wife Nalini incarcerated in the women’s prison being out on parole and staying at Brammapuram near Katpadi for over a month. Murugan has to appear in court on Thursday and officials not wanting to take a chance on his fainting in court provided him with four bottles of glucose on Tuesday.
