CHENNAI: The much-awaited rank list for the students seeking B.Arch seats in Tamil Nadu was released with a total of 1,607 candidates from the general category eligible.

A senior official from the Directorate of Technical Education told DT Next on Wednesday that not even a single general category student from the government school seeking a 7.5% quota was placed in the merit list.

However, the official said that a total of 1,114 students, who had qualified in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture, were eligible for the B.Arch admissions this year.

The DOTE official said that as many as 70 applicants, who had qualified for JEE, were also in the B.Arch rank list, which was released on Wednesday morning.

A total of 38 colleges across the State, which offer B.Arch courses, will be participating in the counseling. According to the official, a total of 2,491 applications have been received against the 1,609 B.Arch seats available in the State.

"If there is any grievance (rank, mark, claim under government school studied for 7.5% reservation, or anything related to B.Arch), the student could report at nearby TFC center or can clarify through call center from October 6 to October 10,”the official added.

Pointing out that the counseling for candidates under special reservation will begin on October 8, the official said the general counseling will commence on the next day (October 9). "The tentative allotment will be released on October 11 and the release of provisional allocation will be declared on October 21.
