1.62 lakh passengers travelled out of Chennai on Friday

An official release said that as per the Transport Minister SS Sivasankar direction, 744 special buses were operated on Friday in addition to the daily services of 2100 buses from the city to various destinations across the state and neighbouring states.

CHENNAI: With the long holidays for Ayudha Pooja, as many as 1.62 lakh passengers travelled out of the city on 2844 buses operated by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations and State Express Transport Corporation.

An official release said that as per the Transport Minister SS Sivasankar direction, 744 special buses were operated on Friday in addition to the daily services of 2100 buses from the city to various destinations across the state and neighbouring states.

On Friday, 1.62 lakh passengers travelled out of the city to their native places for Ayudha Pooja which falls on Tuesday.

The release said that 938 special buses would be operated in addition to normal bus services on Saturday.

The buses would operate from three termini, including Tambaram Mepz, Poonamalle and Koyambedu.

The buses to Tiruvannamalai, Chidambaram, Vadalur, Puducherry, Cuddalore and Chidambaram via Tindivanam will be operated from MEPZ bus terminus. Poonamallee terminus will be used to operate buses to Vellore, Arni, Arcot, Tirupattur, Kancheepuram, Hosur, Tiruttani and Tirupati. For rest of the places, the bus services will be operated from CMBT.
