COIMBATORE: Three persons, including one for hurling petrol bomb on the car of a Hindu Munnani functionary were arrested in Coimbatore on Wednesday.
Police said Muhammed Sharuk (27) and Muhammed Idreez (42), both from Karumbukadai area had hurled stones on a TNSTC bus, while causing damage to its glass shields on September 22 night following NIA raids on PFI. They damaged the glass shield of a bus bound to Kovaipudur from Ganapathy near ‘Rakkiyannan Thottam’ and escaped in a two-wheeler. Based on a complaint, the Kuniamuthur and Variety Hall Road police registered separate cases and checked CCTV images to zero down the culprits. They were produced in court and sent on remand. Police also seized a two-wheeler used by them.
Police said one more person, who was involved in the petrol bomb attack on the car of a Hindu Munnani functionary has been arrested. Two persons, Jesuraj (34) and Iliyaz (34), were already arrested for hurling petrol bomb on the car of Hindu Munnani functionary Thyagu in Kuniamuthur area on September 23. After further inquiries, the police also arrested Abdul alias Amrish Khan from Tiruvalluvar Nagar in connection with the same incident. Further inquiries are on.
