CHENNAI: The amended Registration Act being implemented by the State government from Thursday would be a godsend for property owners fighting land grabbers in courts. None could have explained the significance of the amended or rather ‘empowered’ Act (allows registration department officials to cancel bogus registrations on their own) better than veteran kollywood actor Vanishree, one of the beneficiaries who got back the property after the government annulled the bogus registration of her property.

Talking to media persons after collecting her order from Chief Minister MK Stalin at the state secretariat, a visibly jubilant and relieved Vanishree said, “I used to wonder if I or my grandchildren should fight for the land. I had even gone to the Supreme Court to get back my property, But I could not. CM Stalin has given us great happiness by introducing the cancellation of fake documents. It is a big blow to people producing fake documents.”

“I ran from pillar to post for 11 years. At a time when I thought I could not spend a penny more, CM has shown us the way. He should lead a long life and continue to deliver good governance, ” she said.

“I spent a lot of money. My son took his life out of the worry that we would lose the land. Now, in Stalin, I see my child giving the land back to me. I do not know if others feel so happy, But I do. I do not have to go to any court or collector office henceforth. It cannot be impersonated or faked in any registration office, ” an emotionally moved Vanishree added, before thanking the CM for retrieving her property measuring four grounds on Nelson Manickam Road. The veteran actor, who had paired with the likes of Sivaji Ganesan among the big names of Kollywood, had unsuccessfully run a battery factory in the place before a third party claimed ownership of the land 11 years ago.
