COIMBATORE: A 27-year-old much married woman finally ran out of luck, when she was going for her seventh marriage in Namakkal on Friday.

Police said Santhiya (27) from Sholavandan in Madurai was on a conning spree as she used to disappear with jewels and valuables from the house of her husband within a few days after marriage.

She was caught red handed when she came along with four other conmen, who posed as her relatives to get married with a person in Namakkal. In fact, Santhiya fell in the trap set by K Dhanabal (37), whom she married last on September 7 in Paramathivelur.

Only two persons, claiming to be her sister and uncle took part in the marriage. Marriage broker Balamurugan (45) took Rs 1.50 lakh as commission for arranging their wedding. On the third day of marriage, Dhanabal woke up in shock to find his ‘new wife’ missing with valuables.

Dhanabal realised that he was duped and therefore lodged a complaint with police. In a few days, Dhanabal came across a woman matchmaker Dhanalakshmi (45) from Melavasal in Madurai showing the photo of Santhiya as a prospective bride to another person known to him. He then planned a trap and made the prospective groom express interest in her.

Soon the marriage was fixed and Santhiya along with four others identified as N Gautham (26), Jayavel (30), and Dhanalakshmi arrived in a car to Tiruchengode for the marriage. They all were arrested.
