CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the HR&CE Department to consider the representations of a nonagenarian to remove all the anomalies in Arulmigu Sugavaneswarar Swamy Temple in Salem. The first bench of Acting Chief Justice M Duraiswamy and Justice Sunder Mohan passed the direction on disposing of a petition filed by 92-year-old D Srinivasan, a resident of Jalakandapuram in Salem district. According to the petitioner, he sent two representations to the authorities in 2019 and 2022 to sort out all the mismanagements, but there was no response. Srinivasan also noted that he found so many illegalities, including the unavailability of adequate archakas. He further noted that there is no proper toilet facility or drinking water available. The judge insisted Special Government Pleader NRR Arun Natarajan for HR&CE to inform the department to sort out the issues.
