CHENNAI: Anti-corruption wing registered a case against 8 officials of Madurai Kamaraj University due to various complaints, including distance education malpractice.

The Directorate of Distance Education at the university received several complaints of malpractice, including distribution of mark sheets, admission of students, and malpractice during exams. Soon, police conducted an investigation in this regard.

It was found that the university officials, including the Additional Commissioner of Examinations, Rajarajan, granted admission without examining the fee details sent by the Kerala central coordinators. Moreover, it was found that there was malpractice in issuing the marksheet.

In this situation, Madurai Kamaraj University Distance Education former Additional Commissioner M Rajarajan (who passed away last year), Sathyamurthy, former Superintendent of Admissions Division, Karthikai Selvan, Computer Officer of Examination Division, Rajapandi, former Superintendent of Examination Division for Junior Classes, and GG, Abdul Aziz, Suresh, Jayaprakasan, Coordinators of Kerala Centers of the University, were booked by the Madurai Anti-Corruption Police Inspector.

Rajarajan, the first accused in this, died last year. Further investigation is on.
