TIRUCHY: Telangana Governor and Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan denied a statement published by a political party’s mouthpiece in Tamil Nadu, according to which, she was insulted in Telangana.

Speaking to reporters here, Tamilisai said she was surprised to see false claims by a mouthpiece of a Tamil Nadu political party. The Telangana Governor asserted that she was never insulted.

“I was never insulted but my interview was about a certain culture and protocol that was followed in the event which I had attended. I have successfully completed three years as Governor and am stepping into the fourth year. Instead of expressing happiness for a ‘Tamil sister’ discharging her duty well in high-ranked positions, the particular mouthpiece blew up something that had not taken place and I am not a person to be down by any negative remarks,” Tamilisai said.

The Governor said that she had adopted six tribal districts in Telangana and was working for the upliftment of people in that region. “I used to visit he villages, educational institutions and even hospitals to inspect the processes there and I will continue to do this,” she stressed.

Meanwhile, Tamilisai urged the political parties not to politicise the New Education Policy (NEP), which has been devised after careful scrutiny by teachers and parents. “Point out the faults but never opt out of the NEP. Several thousands of teachers and parents from Tamil Nadu have praised the NEP. If one goes through the entire policy, he or she will never oppose it”, she stressed.
