NIA carries out search in Sivaganga

Apart from Sivaganga, NIA on Thursday conducted searches at 20 locations in nine districts of Bihar, including Nalanda, Katihar, Arariya, Madhubani, Patna, Vaishali, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur and Saran as well as in Karnataka.

CHENNAI: The National Investigation Agency team on Thursday carried out search at a place in Sivaganga linked to a PFI man, who is an accused in terror module case registered against Popular Front of India by the agency in New Delhi.

Sources said that the search was carried out at the place of Mohammed Roslan, a PFI office bearer for North Eastern states, in Sivaganga.

NIA said that the person stayed in Sivagangai and is suspected to have been indulged in anti-national activities.

Apart from Sivaganga, NIA on Thursday conducted searches at 20 locations in nine districts of Bihar, including Nalanda, Katihar, Arariya, Madhubani, Patna, Vaishali, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur and Saran as well as in Karnataka.

During the searches at the premises of accused and suspects, incriminating materials, including digital devices and documents, were seized, said a note from NIA.

The case was initially registered at Phulwarisharif district in Patna, Bihar, on the charges or conspiracy meetings ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar.

Subsequently, NIA took over the case on July 22 and re-registered a case under under Sections 120, 120B, 121, 121A, 153A, 153-B and 34 of the Indian Penal Code as per the directions of Union Home Ministry.
