MADURAI: Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi continued to rally support for his ‘Bharat Jodo’ Yatra, which entered the second day on Thursday in Kanniyakumari district, stressing the need for unity of society as a whole.

Prior to the rally, Kumari Ananthan, veteran leader of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, handed over the national flag to Rahul, who in the midst of cadre hoisted the flag on the college grounds at Agastheeswaram, from where he spearheaded the rally. He also took part in a yoga programme ahead of the rally, which began at around 7.15 am, sources said.

Clad in white, scores of cadre, his supporters and people from various sections joined the rally. A large number of people waited with great anticipation to see and welcome Rahul marching all the way from Agastheeswaram through Kottaram and walking along Kanniyakumari- Nagercoil Highway. Rahul walked at a brisk pace before reaching Suchindram on Thursday evening and concluded the rally at Nagercoil Derik junction, from where he travelled to a college in Nagercoil and interacted with representatives from different sections of civil society.
