VELLORE: A seven-hour long sit in staged by four councillors at Pernambut Municipality demanding showing of accounts resulted in a lone woman councillor fainting and being rushed to the Pernambut Government Hospital on Tuesday evening. The 4 councillors - Abdul Hamid, Athikur Rahman, Mujamil and Tanveera Begum started the sit in around 1 pm even after the meeting ended and others had left. The refusal by vice chairman Aliyar Zubair Ahmed to show accounts as only the four asked for it, resulted in confusion earlier. When word of the agitation spread, locals besieged the local body office in their support. Though police arrived and tried to placate the agitators, it failed. Police then informed commissioner Subhashini, who promised to come but never turned up. It was at this juncture, that Tanveera Begum fainted and was rushed to the hospital.
