Districts except Ariyalur, Tenkasi, report new cases

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu recoded 539 new COVID-19 cases on Friday taking the tally to 35.67 lakh cases so far. Chennai had 90 new cases, Coimbatore had 69 and Erode had 42. Chengalpattu and Salem recorded 40 cases respectively. The State test positivity rate stood at 2.2% with 23,022 samples tested.

Coimbatore had the highest TPR with 6.3% and Chennai recorded 1.6%. Active cases declined to 5,407 in TN with Chennai recording the highest – 2,255. As many as 628 people were discharged across the State, taking total recoveries to 35,22,660. With no new COVID fatality reported on Friday, the death toll stood at 38,034.
