TIRUCHY: Two senior citizens died in different incidents after roof and wall collapsed due to continuous rains in Tiruvarur on Wednesday.
Rains continue to lash across the Delta region especially in the districts like Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai and Nagapattinam for the past couple of days.
In such a backdrop, the roof of a house at Kankoduthavanitham Colony in Tiruvarur collapsed after it turned weak on prolonged drenching due to rains for the few days. Ganapathi (80) and his wife Indirani (70) who were residing in the house sustained injuries in the collapse. While Indirani escaped with minor injuries, Ganapathi died on the way to Tiruvarur Government Medical College Hospital due to heavy blood loss.

Meanwhile, in Nagapattinam, the roof of a house in Tsunami Colony collapsed in the wee hours of Wednesday. However, Selva Seeman (48), his wife Venmathi (36) and their two children escaped without injuries.
