COIMBATORE: Four girls, studying in Class 10 in a Government Girls High School near Vazhapadi attempted suicide by consuming poison on Monday after their parents chided them for skipping classes.
Police said the girls, staying in Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department hostel on the school premises and hailing from Kalvarayanmalai in Kallakurichi district had visited a friend’s house on August 19, while informing the hostel authorities of going to their homes.
After a day’s stay at the friend’s house, they had then gone to their houses in Kallakurichi. Similarly, the girls, who returned to the hostel had skipped the class on Monday and visited a temple. Their parents, who came to know of this, had chided the girls.
