CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian and Tamil culture Minister Thangam Thennarasu have paid a sudden visit to Governor RN Ravi at Raj Bhavan in Guindy. The discussion reportedly could revolve around Bills unanimously passed by the Tamil Nadu Assembly gathering dust at the Governor's table, including the NEET Exemption Bill which was supposed to be forwarded for Presidential assent.

This meeting comes at a time when DMK's allies have taken a call to boycott Governor's tea party at Raj Bhavan. Parties such as CPI, CPM, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK), and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) have decided not to join the party.

These parties' leaders have together condemned the Governor's "dilatory tactics" in forwarding the NEET exemption bill. That apart, MMK leader Jawahirullah opposed the "unilateral" decision to extend Dr Sudha Seshaiyan's tenure, by one year, as the Vice-Chancellor of The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University. VCK leader and MP Thol. Thirumavalavan called the tea party a "smokescreen", saying that there is no meaning in tea parties when Tamil people's sentiments are constantly hurt.
