Several parts of TN to receive rainfall in next 48 hours

Until Thursday morning, several parts of the State recorded heavy to moderate rainfall, including Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Karur, Kanniyakumari and Karaikal. Coimbatore received 21.8 mm of rainfall, followed by 19.8 mm in Salem.

CHENNAI: Due to the prevailing overlay circulation in the Lakshadweep region and adjacent parts of the southeastern Arabian Sea, several parts of Tamil Nadu are expected to receive heavy showers, said officials from the regional meteorological department on Thursday.

Heavy showers along with thunderstorms are likely to occur in southern Tamil Nadu, the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Trichy, Namakkal and Karur districts on Thursday. Meanwhile, thunderstorm with lightning is expected to be witnessed at a few places in the isolated areas in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area for next 48 hours.

In Chennai, the sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy, and light rain is expected to occur in some areas on Thursday and next 48 hours. The minimum and maximum temperature is likely to be around 35 degree Celsius and 28 degree Celsius respectively.
