Aavin contractor held for sending fake email in name of Vellore Collector

When Vellore Aavin GM Ravikumar received an email from the administrative section which had a copy of letter from Collector Kumaravel Pandian. The email ordered the GM to stop 12 different tenders floated in December 2021 due to various issues and complaints and ordered that they be re-issued. Suspicious of the mail, Ravikumar then contacted Vellore Collectorate officials and understood that the email was fake. Based on Ravikumar’s complaint, the Collector’s PA (general) Vijayaraghavan complained to Vellore SP S Rajesh Kannan who ordered the district crime branch to initiate action. Probe revealed that the fictitious email was work of an Aavin contactor Jayachandran (35) of the Kalinjur area in Katpadi. He was arrested and remanded on Wednesday.
