Railway police seize 12 kg ganja from two bags on board Ernakulam Express
With increased ganja smuggling into Tamil Nadu catching the attention of the regular and railway police, surveillance has been increased in both railway stations and at the district border with neighbouring states.

Arakkonam: Railway police seized 12 kg of ganja from two bags in the general compartment of the Ernakulam bound express from Tatanagar on Tuesday.

Based on a tip off, that ganja was being smuggled aboard the Ernakulam Express, railway police boarded the train at Perambur railway station and started checking all compartments, both general and reserved.
When officials checked a general compartment after the train reached Arakkonam railway station in Ranipet district, they found two abandoned bags with 12 kg of ganja which was estimated at Rs 1.30 lakh.
The contraband was seized.
Officials also said that in the last one-week alone more than 26 kg ganja was seized at Arakkonam railway station.
