Only Dravidian parties can rule TN: Sengottaiyan
At a time when the BJP is aspiring to make huge inroads in the state, former School Education minister KA Sengottaiyan on Monday asserted that only Dravidian parties can rule Tamil Nadu.
Chennai: “No one can rule Tamil Nadu except Dravidian parties,” said Sengottaiyan, in his address during the debate on demand for grants session on school and higher education. His statement was even welcomed by Speaker M Appavu who said that it is good that both the ruling DMK and the Opposition AIADMK stand on the same line in the issue.
Then Sengottaiyan said that though the announcement of providing Rs 1,000 per month for girls who continue their higher education is a welcome move, the state can still continue the ‘Thalikku Thangam’ scheme. Sengottaiyan further said that be it NEET, CUET or the NEP AIADMK will continue to oppose them. He also said that the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in Tamil Nadu was 51.3 per cent in 2019-20 and this GER was not due to the Illam Thedi Kalvi scheme as mentioned by few MLAs in the Assembly.
