MADURAI: The dedicated facilities include an intensive medical care unit at Rs 55 lakh, intensive surgical care unit at Rs 70 lakh for beneficiaries under CM Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme and a special treatment facility for fire victims at a cost of Rs 35 lakh. The Minister said the GRH in Madurai emerges as the best in terms of rendering medical service and surgical treatments to benefit the needy in south.

Apart from these, the GRH also excelled in the surgical treatments for transgender persons with 207 such treatments performed so far. Earlier, the Health Minister met nine beneficiaries under ‘Innuyir Kappom –Nammai Kakkum 48 Scheme’ at Tirumangalam GH and enquired about their health. As many as 44,105 patients have been treated under the scheme over the last three months in the state, which bore the expenses of Rs 38.79 crore. Under the ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’ scheme, he said as many as 65 lakh persons benefited and a medical kit was given to a beneficiary at his doorstep in Madurai.

A newly built hospital by a doctor, who completed his studies abroad and promised to render medical service for Rs 10, was also inaugurated by the Minister at Pudupatti village, sources said. Subramanian was accompanied by Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Commercial Taxes Minister P Moorthy, Collector S Aneesh Sekhar, Dean, Madurai Medical College A Rathinavel and others.
