CHENNAI: “It is shocking a court in Sri Lanka has fixed Rs 1 crore each as a bail amount for releasing 12 Indian fishermen from Rameswaram who were detained by the Lankan Navy for entering their waters,” AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran said.
In a tweet, he wrote: “The Centre and state governments must stop such Sri Lankan atrocities against Tamil Nadu fishermen. Put an end to the misery of Tamil Nadu fishermen. The Ministry of External Affairs should directly intervene and take immediate action to release the 12 Rameswaram fishermen imprisoned in Sri Lanka.”
Makkal Needhi Maiam expressed displeasure over the Lankan court fixing bail amount for releasing poor Tamil Nadu fishermen.
The MNM wondered how will a poor fisherman be able to pay such a huge amount for bail.
