Tangedco official held for taking bribe

CHENNAI: Jagan, a commercial inspector of Tangedco, Gumudipoondi, was arrested by sleuths from the directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption after he was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Tiruvallur on Wednesday. The arrest was result of a complaint at DVAC, Tiruvallur, from a petitioner who had approached Jagan for EB connection for his newly constructed house. Jagan allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe to process the application. The petitioner refused to give bribes and preferred a complaint with the DVAC. Based on the petition, the sleuths set the trap on Wednesday and arrested the officer when he was receiving the bribe.
