Ensure safe return of our wards from Ukriane: Anxious parents

His daughter and fellow students have taken refuge at the basement  of some building and were struggling without proper food and water. Citing these, Ali approached Madurai Collectorate on Monday.

Parents and relatives of an 18-year-old MBBS student, who is stranded in Ukraine, have sought help from authorities to get back the student safe home to Kayalpattinam in Thoothukudi district. S Ahamed Kaif, who’s one among those stuck at Zaporozhye, another city in Ukraine, a first year student in State Medical University, had informed his father Samsudeen about the current situation, where several buildings were destroyed in heavy shelling. Citing these, Samsudeen, along with relatives submitted a petition to Thoothukudi Collector K Senthil Raj to ensure safe return of his son to India.

Another resident from Oomachikulam in Madurai, S Gopalakrishnan, said he received a message from his daughter Shivahni, a third year student in Karazin Kharkiv National University, around 5.30 pm, on Monday saying she is relatively safe in the war-hit Kharkiv. It provided a little solace.

K Raj Mohan from Kodaikanal, Dindigul district, whose daughter Anushiya Mohan, a final year student of National Medical University, Kyiv, sought to increase frequency of rescue flights.

Meanwhile, in a moving video a group of students from Thanjavur studying medicine in Ukraine talk about their plight and urged the government to help them.
