Tribal woman’s body found in rocky area, gangrape suspected

Police said it is not clear if she was abducted while she was asleep, sexually assaulted and murdered by suspects or whether she was taken away when she stepped out in the night to attend nature’s call. Police said they were awaiting the post-mortem report to confirm if she was sexually assaulted. “It is possible that she resisted a rape attempt and got killed by the suspects,” a cop said.

The woman’s husband raised an alarm on Friday morning after he found his wife missing. By 7 am locals located the body at a nearby rocky terrain and informed the police. Based on the information, senior officers, inclduing district SP Vijayakumar visited the scene. The body was shifted to Chengalpattu medical college for post-mortem.
