The Chief Minister participated in a function to honour candidates from Tamil Nadu who cleared the 2020 Civil Services exams, in Anna Institute of Management. A total of 16 candidates from the Anna institute, including a differently-abled candidate cleared the exam. Stalin appreciated the candidates and in particular the differently-abled candidate and said that when he was informed that a differently-abled candidate has also cleared the exam he was so happy because he is in-charge of the department in the state.
Delivering his address, Stalin asked the candidates not to forget the place from which they went and should never have the thought that they belong to the class of officials.
“Candidates should never think of the government facilities that they are going to get after the service. There may be people who will instigate and guide you in wrong directions, but you should always remain straight forward. You should always be upright and should walk with your heads held high,” said Stalin.
Speaking about the history of the institute, Stalin said that the state government set up a coaching institute for Dalits in 1966 and in 1971 a coaching institute for backward class students was started. In 2001, former chief minister M Karunanidhi combined both the institutes and formed the Anna Institute.
The state government provides Rs 3,000 per month for candidates to procure books they require for preliminary exams and arranges model interviews for candidates who clear civil services main examination.
