Responding to the minister’s challenge of quitting politics if he failed to prove graft charges, Stalin, addressing party workers during the meeting at Devarayapuram in Thondamuthur constituency, said, “I am ready to prove it (corruption charges). Are you (Velumani) ready? You say (answer) first.”

“If I don’t prove it (charges), I will accept what you propose. If I prove it, you should quit politics. Do not assume that you can escape by quitting politics. I will do the job of bringing you to books and punishing you.” Stalin said.

Remarking that it would be appropriate to address Velumani as ‘corruption’ minister instead of municipal administration minister, the DMK chief added, in an all out assault against the minister who was among the eight cabinet members the DMK had complained to the Governor about recently.

Reacting to Stalin, Velumani reiterated his resolve to resign from all posts if charges levelled against him were proved.

He said he was ready to resign from the post of MLA, minister and party posts if he was found guilty of graft.
