Promising to increase the number of workdays from 100 to 150 under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme, Stalin also said that the workers will be paid the increased wages on the same day. The DMK is also keen to pay the old age pension to all without any partiality as shown by the AIADMK, he said.
He also accused the AIADMK government of betraying people by opening ‘Amma Mini Clinics’ without appointing doctors, nurses or purchasing new medical equipment. “Have you (AIADMK) appointed doctors, nurses or bought medical equipment? Only doctors from primary health centre’s were to take up work in mini clinics. We are not opposing the scheme, but the AIADMK is cheating people by saying that only minor treatments can be done in the clinic. This is merely a scheme to loot,” he said, while addressing a ‘makkal gram sabha’ meeting in Erode district.
Slamming the centre for turning a blind eye towards the issues of farmers holding protests in Delhi against the three farm laws for the past 39 days and the State government for supporting them, Stalin reminded that M Karunanidhi waived farm loans and gave free electricity for the welfare of farmers.
