With State board exams confirmed for the coming academic year, the Tamil Nadu government is planning to start special classes for students on a rotation basis if reopening of schools is further delayed.

At present, schools are likely to be reopened after Pongal following feedback from parents. “However, if normalcy isn’t restored and the pandemic threat still looms large, reopening might be delayed further,” a senior School Education Department official told DT Next.
With the syllabus truncated about 35% for the board exam students, authorities are discussing organising special classes for government and government-aided school students both physically and online.
Stating that the special classes will be held on a rotation basis, the official said, “Detailed guidelines and schedule of organising classes will also be issued later.” Private schools will also be allowed to take special classes following the guidelines. He said unlike regular sessions, special classes will be conducted twice or thrice a week depending on the need.
The official added that the government will conduct a detailed feedback camp to seek parents’ suggestions before opening schools for Classes 1-9, adding, feedback camps will be held in the first week of January in all schools.
