‘Weak’ EPS not common enemy, says DMK chief

Hitting back at Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for accusing him of trying to split AIADMK, DMK president MK Stalin on Thursday said that neither he nor his party consider a ‘weak’ person (Palaniswami) as a common enemy.

Addressing Perambalur party workers through video call, Stalin recalled the CM’s speech in Tiruchy on Wednesday and said, “It is unnecessary. We rely on our own strength. I would like to caution Edappadi Palaniswami that we do not exploit others’ weaknesses,” he remarked. “I do not consider a weak person (EPS) who could not become the general secretary of his own party despite being Chief Minister for four years as a common enemy,” he added

Criticizing the war of words between AIADMK and BJP on the issue of the CM candidate of the NDA, Stalin said,.“Only Palaniswami is claiming that he is the CM and CM candidate. His allies, especially the BJP, are not proposing him. Actually, they have rejected his request. Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam is not promoting EPS as CM candidate either. To cover up this sorrow and shame, he is blaming DMK and me,” he added.

Taking exception to the CM’s critique that DMK was a family party, Stalin said that Palaniswami has only exploited his Chief Ministership and Highways Minister post to advance the interest of his family in the last ten years.
