CM recalls Jaya-Srirangam bond, says has OPS’ support

After worshipping at Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple in Srirangam, Edappadi K Palaniswami commenced his political campaign for the second consecutive day in Tiruchy district. He said that the late chief minister Jayalalithaa had a close association with the temple town and the voters from the segment used to prove time and again that Srirangam is the fortress of AIADMK.

He urged the people to continue to support the AIADMK which has been showing keen interest on uplifting the life of the people particularly the downtrodden. Subsequently, he interacted with the women Self Help Group members at Somarasampettai and assured them of prompt disbursal of loans to uplift their status.

Later, speaking to reporters, the CM said, the release of VK Sasikala will have no impact in state politics as well as in AIADMK. “We cannot respond to imaginary queries,” Palaniswami stressed on a query about the scenario post release of Sasikala.

Meanwhile, he reiterated that the senior leader and the coordinator of the party O Panneerselvam has clearly stated that the CM candidate is Edappadi K Palaniswami and the AIADMK still leads the front in Tamil Nadu.

Stating that the AIADMK has a huge support from the people of Tamil Nadu for its good governance, the CM said, the government is still committed to do development of the state.

He said, while the Cauvery-Godavari river linking project is a dream of the late CM, the state government is certain about the project. Similarly, the Cauvery-Gundaru-Vaigai linking project is soon to take off as tender has already been floated.

On Pongal gift distribution, the CM said, “Stalin could not, however, tolerate the distribution of Rs 2,500 for the poor people. He is making various efforts to scuttle its distribution. For whom the government is giving away the assistance ?..it is for the poor and ordinary people and what is wrong with that?” Wondering why Stalin attempted to scuttle such an initiative aimed at helping people, he said the government would overcome obstacles posed by him.
