According to police, on Friday at around 9 am, two Keralite youths who were later identified as Deepu (25) and Aravind (24) were moving on a suspicious way near Sellayee Amman temple premises in Alloor and locals who intercepted them had reportedly assaulted them.

However, Deepu had reportedly hit a man Sambasivan, who was among the public and soon, the locals alerted the others and many joined them in the attack.

On seeing them, both Deepu and Aravind ran for refuge but in a midway, Deepu fell on the ground after hitting a stone and sustained a severe head injury and a section of the public who chased them, took Deepu to the GH while they caught Aravind and reportedly thrashed him. Meanwhile, Deepu who was undergoing treatment, succumbed to injuries in the GH at around 4 pm while Aravind has been undergoing treatment. The body of Deepu has been kept in the GH.

Based on the complaint by Alloor VAO P Jayakumar, the district police registered a case under section 174 (suspicious death) and are conducting an investigation.

“We have formed two special teams to know the whereabouts and to investigate the incident. We have also been waiting for the family members of the deceased. Only when the family members arrive, the post mortem would be performed and the cause of death would be ascertained”, the SP T Jayachandran said.
