On Thursday evening, a bag was found abandoned at the platform after the Uzhavan Express departed and sanitary staff Rajadurai handed it over to the railway police.

The police inspected it and found that it contained cash of Rs 20,860, three mobile phones, Aadhaar card, house keys and other documents. On seeing the visiting card, the police identified the owner as Niyaz Ahamed (37) of Mela Caveury in Kumbakonam.

Subsequently, the police contacted him in the number and Niyaz, who picked up the call told the police that he missed the bag at the railway station in a hurry to board the train.

Soon, Niyaz Ahamed got down at Kuthalam railway station and reached Kumbakonam railway station and received the bag.

After receiving the bag, Niyaz Ahamed thanked the police and Rajadurai, who found the bag and handed it over to the police.
