AIADMK’s first mega poll meet in city tomorrow
The ruling AIADMK is gearing up for the first mega election meeting at YMCA grounds in Chennai where 5,000 party workers will gather on Sunday. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam and joint coordinator R Vaithilingam are expected to give pep talk for the AIADMK workers.

According to the AIADMK sources, the ranks and files in Chennai unit had been invited to be present at the meeting where the party will officially launch the election campaign in the city. The district secretaries have also been asked to ensure that all the ward secretaries, campaign managers and booth level workers are assembled for the event. Some of the functionaries who are to share the dais with the Chief Minister and state Ministers also took COVID-19 tests on Friday to attend the election meeting.
Executive committe meeting on Jan 9
After the meeting, the top leaders are also likely to discuss the arrangements made for the general council and executive committee meeting scheduled on January 9. All the executive and general council members have been asked to obtain COVID-19 negative test reports before attending the crucial meeting.
Another discussion making rounds among the AIADMK workers is that the release of ousted AIADMK leader VK Sasikala, who is likely to be released after Pongal.
The party will notify the recent changes and appointment of an 11-member steering committee to advise the party on election-related issues. The party general council meeting was earlier scheduled in December, but postponed following reports of corona second wave and now with Chennai COVID-19 figures reporting below 300, the party has scheduled the meeting at Vaanagaram in January, AIADMK sources said.
