    DVAC arrests Aavin officials in Vellore and Nellai on corruption charges

    In another DVAC trap, sleuths from Kancheepuram unit caught two assistants working in district registrar office for collecting Rs 50,000 as bribe from a complainant for DTCP approval for his layout.

    A day after Vellore Vigilance officials arrested the Vellore Aavin Procurement Manager Ravi for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contract transporter, the DVAC sleuths travelled to Tirunelveli and arrested the current Tirunelveli Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union GM and former Vellore Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union GM MP Ganesa at midnight on Wednesday.

    Ravi was initially arrested after a transporter, Murugesan (55) of Thurinjapuram in Tirunelveli district, who was due Rs 1.81 lakh approached him for payment. The former demanded Rs 50,000 to release the cheque following which Murugesan approached Vigilance officials who trapped Ravi.

    After his arrest, Ravi revealed that he had done so at the behest of Ganesa who had ordered him to collect the amount and revealed phone records in support of his statement.

    Based on this, Vellore Vigilance officials travelled to Tirunelveli arrested Ganesa and brought him to Vellore in the early hours of Thursday.

    He is expected to undergo a COVID-19 test at the Vellore government medical college hospital before both are formally charged and lodged in the Vellore central prison.

    In another DVAC trap, sleuths from Kancheepuram unit caught two assistants working in district registrar office for collecting Rs 50,000 as bribe from a complainant for DTCP approval for his layout. The file was sent to the District Registrar, Kanchipuram district, to fix the guideline value. For fixing the guideline value Sathish Kumar, Assistant, Office of the District Registrar, Kanchipuram demanded bribe money of Rs 50,000 from the complainant.

    During the trap proceedings, Sathish Kumar instructed the complainant to keep the bribe money in his office bureau.

    Then the bribe money was taken by Sathish Kumar, and given to Balaji, Office Assistant, who kept the bribe money in his pant’s pocket. Both were arrested by the DVAC.
