An official statement of the party said that as part of his campaign titled “Let’s Renovate Tamil Nadu”, Haasan will tour Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Cuddalore districts from December 20 to 22.
Kamal Haasan will start his campaign from Alandur on Sunday and end at Maduranthakam on Tuesday.
In the first leg of the campaign trail, he covered southern districts — Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari from December 13 to 16.
Haasan’s campaign focused on providing clean and efficient administration in the state if voted to power. The actor-turned-politician has been invoking the name of AIADMK founder and former chief minister late MG Ramachandran in his speech evoking a strong response from the ruling party.
“It was the reason why the people adored him as ‘’Makkal Thilagam’’ (leader of the people) notwithstanding his party affiliation, be it the DMK or later, the AIADMK which he founded. Remember I grew up “on the lap of MGR’’ while several of you (Ministers) would not have even seen him personally,” he tweeted tagging a 1980’s video clip of MGR honouring him with a shawl and award and kissing him.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami hit out at Haasan saying that he had no intention of doing any good to the people and was only spoiling families through his films and TV show Bigg Boss.
