Palaniswami flays Opposition's silence over dip in COVID-19 cases due to govt efforts
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday said that opposition parties, which criticised COVID-19 drive in the past, were silent when cases were dipping due to efforts of the government.

Speaking after inaugurating ‘Amma’ mini clinic in Salem on Thursday, he said, the state has contained the spread while cases were risng drastically in Kerala and Delhi. But the opposition in TN are now keeping mum,” he said.
In Ariyalur, the Chief Minister said, medical infrastructure available in the state has been appreciated by various quarters and “we have received award for the sixth consecutive year for organ transplantation and being applauded for electricity, transport, education and social welfare, but the Leader of Opposition is not ready to accept all these.”
The state has been executing plans to ensure advance medical facilities so that people would prefer only government hospitals in future.
Answering to a query about the land acquisition for AIIMS in Madurai, the Chief Minister said, the state has already promised to acquire land and the government should soon transfer it after rectifying a few issues.
Hitting at Kamal, Palaniswami said that the DVAC is conducting regular raids and keeping the corrupt under watch. Further on Kamal’s claims over MGR legacy, the Chief Minister said, “MGR acted in films that teach morals and those songs were teaching good manners, but he (Kamal) has not even acted in good movies and those families that would watch his shows (Big Boss) would destroy themselves and so we need not bother about his comments.”
DO to PM on fishermen release
The CM also wrote a DO letter to Prime Minister stating “I (CM) write to bring to your (PM) kind attention about two more incidents of apprehension of 36 Indian fishermen belonging to Ramanathapuram and Thoothukudi districts with five mechanised boats by Sri Lankan Navy on December 14. The Lankan strategy of not releasing the boats is causing great frustration amongst the fishermen,” he said.
