    BJP starts district-wise meeting for poll related works

    In the background of Dravidian majors, AIADMK and DMK racing against each other intensifying election works for the upcoming assembly polls, ambitious BJP, which is keen to enter the TN legislative Assembly had kick-started conducting region wise and district wise conference and meetings.

    The back to back meetings is more common in western Tamil Nadu where the party is hoping to open the electoral debut in alliance with the AIADMK.

    On Tuesday, Tamil Nadu state president L Murugan, BJP Mahila Morcha president Vanathi Srinivasan took part in the party election meeting at Salem where the party invited the district and state level functionaries to chalk out poll strategies. According to BJP insiders, the national party will contest maximum seats from Kongu region covering Salem, Coimbatore, Tirupur. The party will also have a direct fight in a few constituencies where the incumbent MLAs are from Congress in Kanniyakumari and Tirunelveli districts. The saffron party had also appointed convenors and election in charges for all the 234 Assembly constituencies and may contest one or two seats from Chennai.

    The party had also appointed senior office-bearers, including Nainar Nagendran, Sasikala Pushpa, H Raja, KT Raghavan and Khushbu Sundar as election in-charges and convenors for Assembly seats. Most of the names that have featured in the party election convenor and charge list are likely to be the key candidates of the BJP and the constituency-wise work as begin for the elections, BJP sources said.

    BJP workers have formed booth wise committees and helped the voters during the weekend electoral revision. “This time the BJP had also taken up the booth level works and voters enumeration works that are crucial for winning the Assembly seats,” a BJP district secretary who attended the meeting in Salem told DT Next.
