In his four-day whirlwind tour, the actor-politician would start his campaign titled “Reimagining Tamil Nadu” from Madurai on Sunday and subsequently visit Theni, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari on December 14, 15 and 16.

On Sunday, MNM sources said that the actor would be addressing at least three meetings. Besides, he will be interacting with his party office bearers and entrepreneurs in the city. On December 14, the actor will travel on road in his campaign vehicle to various locations in Madurai and Theni districts.

The next day, December 15, the actor will tour Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts and will end his whirlwind tour on December 16 in Kanyakumari district. In the Kanyakumari district, he will also interact with fishermen in the coastal district.

A senior leader of MNM said that with the government restricting the number of people taking part in the political events, his party has taken the various precaution to follow the Covid-19 protocol and tried to visit more number of locations rather than gathering people in one location.

Haasan’s Southern Tamil Nadu campaign tour comes a week after his contemporary and actor Rajinikanth announced his decision to launch his party in January 2021 to contest in the state assembly election in April-May. The principal opposition party DMK which is leading an alliance comprising of Congress, Left, VCK, IUML and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi has started the campaigning while the ruling AIADMK which confirmed its alliance with the BJP has commenced preparation for the polls.

MNM had extended support to the Bharat Bandh called by the farmers’ associations and backed by the opposition parties including Congress, Left and DMK in support of the protesting farmers in Delhi seeking withdrawal of three farm legislation. Sources in MNM said that the support to the bandh has nothing to do with the ensuing state assembly polls. MNM which was launched in February 2018 did not able win any seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls but polled little over 3.5 per cent votes.
