A special committee of medicos has been tasked with inspecting the proposed sites for the mini clinics to ensure that it meets all requirements to ensure seamless flow of COVID-19 vaccine to all, Nanduri added.

The district has a total of 410 health outlets, including 93 rural PHC, 6 urban PHCs and 10 government hospitals, including the government HQ hospital at Cheyyar and the Government Medical College Hospital at Tiruvannamalai.

The vaccine will be provided in three phases. The first phase will include doctors, nurses and para medical personnel in government and private hospitals, while the second phase will cover all front line workers. The third phase is reserved for those above 50 years and suffering from comorbidities, Tirupattur collector MP Sivan Arul revealed.

“As the plan is to vaccinate 20 per cent of the population, it will mean coverage of 2.50 lakh people in Tirupattur district, including 3,000 medical and para medical personnel in 37 PHCs and 4 government hospitals. Also work is currently on to register medical staff in the 353 private hospitals in the district for vaccinating them.” All details are to be uploaded on to the state government’s COVID-19 website, health officials revealed. The vaccine will be available only at government medical outlets, they added.

Work has also started to ready cold storage facilities at 40 locations in government medical institutions while officials have requested the state government to sanction 10 more for Tirupattur district, Sivan Arul revealed to DT Next. “Vaccines will be provided to the public through 650 outlets in various government buildings with proper procedures being followed. The state is expected to announces special and separate SOPs for such outlets,” he added.

In Vellore district, arrangements are on to register the names of 15,000 medical personnel and upload their names on the department website to receive the vaccine, officials revealed.
