AIADMK upset as ally BJP's Vanathi labels Dravidian parties as corrupt

In the wake of opposition DMK and ruling AIADMK exchanging heated arguments over Jayalalithaa’s disproportionate assets case and the 2G spectrum case involving A Raja, the BJP joined the chorus echoing that the state of Tamil Nadu is known for corruption practiced by the Dravidian parties.

Responding to the corruption charges debate, BJP Mahila Morcha national president Vanathi Srinivasan said that it is a fact that scam and corruptions are rampant in Tamil Nadu ruled by the Dravidian parties. Two years ago, when our party leader Amit Shah visited the state, he made a reference stating that corruption is rampant in Tamil Nadu. Both the DMK and AIADMK are trading scam charges against each other exposing themselves, she said.

As far as BJP is concerned, we are against corruption and we will fight corruption, Srinivasan added. The remarks by the BJP leader in the national capital has not gone well among the AIADMK alliance partners in Tamil Nadu.

According to AIADMK sources, a section of party seniors had admitted to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to discard the BJP if it continues to target the ruling AIADMK.

“Despite police banning the Vel Yatra, BJP president L Murugan went ahead with the yatra and now they are trying to gain hold at the cost of AIADMK. It is the BJP that badly needs AIADMK in TN. We will be happy if the BJP walks out of the alliance,” an AIADMK senior told DT Next. “The BJP is trying to be bossy after actor Rajinikanth’s announcement on floating a party and Vanathi Srinivasan’s speech reflects the same,” the AIADMK source added.

Meanwhile, Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar responding to Vanathi’s comment said that the comments from an alliance partner should be constructive and not destructive. “In my views, the BJP leader is referring to the DMK, which is involved in several scams,” the Minister said.
