Tribal school HM amasses Rs 24L illegal wealth in six years, booked
A headmaster of a government tribal residential school in Salem and his wife are under the probe of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) after he was found to be in possession of assets disproportionate to his known source of income.

The accused teacher, G Venkateswaran, is working as headmaster of Government Tribal Residential School, Thalvallam, Pethanaickenpalayam taluk, in Salem from October 2018 to till date. Since 2009 he had been working as headmaster in various tribal residential schools.
The DVAC has pegged the check period for his asset calculation from the year 2012 to 2018. The Vigilance team has also booked his wife P Ramya, a homemaker, as an accused in the case because she had abetted him to commit the offence.
The disproportionate assets worth Rs 24.12 lakh was accumulated by the accused during the check period, which is 65 per cent excess than his known source of income.
Venkateswaran had committed the offence of criminal misconduct by intentionally enriching himself illicitly during the said period and was booked along with his wife under provisions of Prevention of Corruption act by the DVAC.
