“According to principals of social justice, reservation should have more compartments to provide exclusive reservation for more backward communities. Neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala have gone for compartmental reservations providing more reservations for the backward communities,” said Ramadoss, in a series of tweets.
S Ramadoss also said that in Andhra Pradesh, the communities are split into five types, A,B,C,D and E apart from Muslims where reservation is provided for each category. This will ensure that communities which are on par with each other will compete with each other.
Similarly, in Karnataka there are five divisions where class 1 is getting 4 per cent of reservation, while class 2A is getting 15 per cent, class 2B is given 4 per cent, class 3A is given 4 per cent and class 3B is given 5 per cent.
In Kerala, Ezhavas are given 14 per cent reservation while Muslims are given 12 per cent, Latin Christians are given 4 per cent, Nadars given 2 per cent, Christian converted Dalits are given 1 per cent, Theravars given 1 per cent, other backward classes are given 3 per cent and Vishwakarmas are given 3 per cent.
In Kerala, classes are split into 8 for effective implementation of reservation, but in Tamil Nadu there are only two divisions, backward and most backward classes, said Ramadoss.
