The Congress leader also slammed BJP for dividing the country on religious lines. “Both the AIADMK government in the state and BJP at the Centre are working against the interests of the people. They should be sent home for the welfare of the nation,” he said.

The Congress cadre led by Alagiri were arrested by police for holding the demonstration defying police permission, but were released later.
